A photograph by Raymond Meeks
Though the foreground is very dark and sort of muddled, it really sets of the sky and makes the stars look beautiful. I think the darkness of the photo works for it. I also like the composition.

A photograph by Ryan McGinley, who was my subject for my final project last year.
I think this picture is really beautiful, despite some elements in it that would normally be considered flaws. I think the centering of the subjects and the uneven horizon line work for it.

A photograph by Alan Sailer, an artist famous for his high-speed photographs of explosions and gunshots. I like the symmetry of this picture, as well as the fact that the crumbled Smarties are making a rainbow pattern. It's a very unique and oddly beautiful photograph.
Pretty rad.
The only thing that bothers me is that the wrapper is slightly cut off. It just bugs me.

I'm a big fan of sun-glare, and the sunlight in the background gives the photo a warm feeling, which I also like and utilize often. I also chose it for the frame. I think it looks rad.

A photo by Lillian Bassman
It looks almost unreal because of the heavy contrast, as if it were photoshopped or taken out of a comic-book advertisement. It's strange, but there is something appealing about it. The model's dark makeup and expression are quite arresting.

I really like the texture and detail in this photo, as well as the tonal range. It feels both hyperreal and ethereal. The plain black background seems almost mysterious, and further serves to make the subject stand out. Additionally, the amount of Yolandi Visser in this image is also desirable.

A photo by Richard Avedon, the artist I'm considering for my project. Aside from the obvious appeal in the colours, I really like the texture of this photo and the way the subject both fits with and stands in contrast of the background.

A building in Chicuque, Mozambique. Taken from the beach at an obscenely early hour.

I Don't Like Birds

But for some reason I took a lot of pictures of them while visiting the Kruger Wildlife Park in South Africa.
At least they're cool birds.

A lilac-breasted roller.

A glossy starling.

A fish eagle, which I assume is closely related to our bald eagle.
