By Jules Gervais Courtellemont, from a 1924 issue of National Geographic. I like the way the vines frame her.

New Daft Punk album, time to celebrate.
I really like the "split" between the fire and the sky, and what that does for the composition.

Thursday, May 9, 2013

A washed-out road in Washington State. I really love the flow of this image, and the way it leads your eye.

Friday, May 3, 2013

Grimes, aka Claire Boucher.
I like the way the railing and the building in the background frame her.

Apparently this is (the voice of) the lead singer from Studio Killers.
I could not imagine anything more perfect.
This is a pretty rad photo overall, too.

Monday, April 29, 2013

I couldn't find a source for this, but I love it. It reminds me of Joe Mills.

Thursday, April 25, 2013

Yeah, so Deadmau5' music is whatever
but look how kawaii he is
I like the heavy contrast. It really draws attention to
his
face

By Laurent Laveder. I love the way it's composed, especially how the clouds split the photo both visually and thematically.

Friday, April 19, 2013

By Shigeo Hayashi. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a larger size.
I think this picture is really beautiful. The tonal range is fantastic, and I like the halo effect around the building.

Monday, April 15, 2013

This is Mr Oizo. He's a triple-threat: DJ, producer, director. He's the best at everything.

Thursday, April 11, 2013

A picture from my project that didn't quite make it into my finals. I still really like it, so here it is.

By Gueorgui Pinkhassov
I love the composition and the subtle colour palette. This photo looks almost like a painting.

Friday, April 5, 2013

Taken the other day. I like to photograph things that are almost impossible to compose well.

Wednesday, April 3, 2013

Eskmo, a pretty rad producer.
I like the composition of this photo, with the leading lines and the way he's framed by the stairs.

Friday, March 22, 2013

This is Andrew VanWyngarden, from MGMT.
I am a very serious art person.

By Irving Penn
I love his portraits. The detail is fantastic, and I like the way her hair blends into the background.

Monday, March 18, 2013

A picture of Centralia, an abandoned town in Pennsylvania (of "Silent Hill" fame).
I'm going there during break, so there will be more photos of it on my blog.

Thursday, March 14, 2013

This is Uffie. Uffie is kind of like Ke$ha, except infinitely better.
I like the depth-of-field in this photo that leads you past her hand and right to her face. The high level of detail makes it interesting to look at as well.

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

Another from Joseph Mills. I like the detail and intensity. He's definitely becoming one of my favorite artists.

Friday, March 8, 2013

A picture I took for a past project. I didn't end up using it because it was on the wrong light setting (which is why it's so blue). It's an oil deposit on the banks of a river in the Arboretum, on the outskirts of DC.

By Jim Urquhart
I hate horses, but this is a really cool photograph. I like the mysterious and powerful air to it.

Friday, February 22, 2013

By Julio Cortez. It looks oddly like something out of a video-game to me. Even the composition seems so carefully-planned it looks quite unreal.

Thursday, February 21, 2013

By Joseph Mills. I love the way the photo uses contrast to emphasize the little girl. The picture also has the nice sense of flow, which I find rare.

Friday, February 15, 2013

By Manuel Alvarez Bravo, who is also the subject of my artist presentation. Despite the unsavory nature of the photograph, it is strangely beautiful. It is haunting.

Thursday, February 7, 2013

Another from Ryan McGinley. It relies a bit heavily on colour, but I still like it.

Friday, February 1, 2013

The sky was grey and dreary from my vantage point, but the sun was shining on the apartment buildings down the street giving them this great orangey-gold colour. It was so beautiful. I wish I could've captured it better, but this was the best I could do.

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

The whitest photo I've ever taken.
Lauren, taken over winter break.

Friday, January 18, 2013

Shot outside the art gallery near my house in DC. It's in an alley, so a lot of the artists have decorated the walls with graffiti. It's a cool little gallery, too. It's called the Fridge. Check it out.

Throwback Wednesday...?
This was one of my photos from my final project last year. I really love this photograph, but I'm not sure how much other people would appreciate it.
I'm posting it anyway.
Here it is.
You're welcome.

Dave Nada, inventor and pioneer of moombahton, makes an appearance in a mural in Adams Morgan.
Apparently my mom knows this guy???

Dave Nada, my future best friend, makes an appearance in a mural in Adams Morgan.

A photo I took the other day in DC. I really like taking pictures of graffiti. I doubt I'm going to do anything with this, so I guess I'll put it here.
